privacy

There is no advertising here, no tracking pixels, and nothing about you is sold or shared with anyone. What follows is the whole list of what we keep.

your profile

Your username, display name, picture, mood, away message, the HTML and CSS you write, and your song are all public — that is the point of a profile page. Your email address is not public and is only used to sign you in.

chat messages

Chat is one-to-one and only with people you are already friends with. Messages are stored on our server so they can be delivered and so a moderator can read them if someone reports a conversation. They are kept for 90 days and then deleted. Nothing disappears sooner than that, and there are no disappearing messages: assume anything you send can be read by a moderator if it is reported. Messages are not encrypted end to end.

reports

When you report a conversation, the recent messages in it are attached to the report so a moderator can judge it fairly. A report is a record of something that happened, so it is kept even if the account that filed it or the account it is about is deleted — the names are removed, the record stays. While a report is still open, the messages it points at are held past the 90 days and are not purged until it has been dealt with.

presence

We store the last time you were seen on the site so people can tell whether you are around. It is coarse on purpose: online, away, or nothing. There are no read receipts and no typing indicators.

deleting your account

You can delete your account from the account page at any time. Your profile, your pages, your pictures, your song, your comments, your friendships and your contact lists are deleted immediately, and your username is released immediately.

Chat messages you sent are not deleted. They are anonymised and kept for up to 90 days for safety reasons — your name comes off them and they read as “deleted account”. This is deliberate: otherwise deleting an account would erase the evidence in a report nobody has read yet. The conversation itself stays too, so the person you were talking to keeps their own messages; neither of you can open it in the app once the friendship is gone.
